PhotoCat (FW) from Conquest Enterprises is a computer based catalogue system for images and photographs. It incorporates attributes of a subject as well as the equipment and settings used to capture the image. This information, along with a thumbnail representation of the image, is stored in a database. This repository of information can be queried using a versatile set of criteria and the results of these searches can be saved in a portfolio. The thumbnails of searched images or portfolios can be printed as a contact sheet for perusal purposes.

Purchase A PhotoCat Licence
PhotoCat can be downloaded and used for free. However, in this mode no more than 100 images can be loaded into the database. To unlock the full capacity of PhotoCat you will need to purchase a Licence and then register PhotoCat as follows:
  1. if you have any special offer, enter the Offer Code below and click the Set Offer button
  2. purchase the licence here

    2. enter your own security key - a maximum combination of any 10 characters
    3. optionally enter your company/organisation name
    4. click the PayPal Buy Now button
      payments are processed securely through PayPal
      you will need to register with PayPal if you have not already done so
      you will be able to do this when you proceed to the PayPal checkout
    5. you will be sent confirmation e-mails from PayPal
    6. you will also be sent an e-mail from us with a registration key and confirmation of your own security key
  3. download, install, and run PhotoCat - you will be informed that the version is unregistered
    1. when PhotoCat is running, select the Tools -> Help -> Registration Details menu
    2. enter the supplied registration key, your own key, and the e-mail address you registered with PayPal
      follow the on-screen instructions
    3. close and restart PhotoCat - you will now have a registered copy!

What Is PhotoCat

Image Details

  • a unique identifying number that can be used to manually retrieve its details.
  • Title - an identifying description of the image.
  • Date - the date on which the photograph was taken or image created. This can be indicated as approximate.
  • Time - the time at which the photograph was taken or image created. This can be indicatedas approximate.
  • Rating - a numeric rating given to the image to indicate its merit.
  • Image Creator - selectable reference to whomever took the photograph or created the image.
  • Notes - any notes desired.
  • Image Metrics - the location and name of the image on the computer as well as the image size and resolution.
  • KeyWords - any keywords that are desired. These will be indexed and searches can be performed, retrieving images matching their entered keywords.
  • Thumbnail - a thumbnail representation of the actual image.
  • Location - an indication of the location of which the photograph was taken. This location information is in the form of a user created hierarchical structure.
  • Camera - the camera used to take the picture.
  • Lens - the lens used to take the picture.
  • Film - the type of film used to take the photograph.
  • Film Speed - the ISO/ASA rating
  • Shutter Speed - the shutter speed setting on the camera when the photograph was taken.
  • fStop - the fStop setting used on the lens.
  • Strobe - the strobe/flash used to take the photograph.
  • Flash Sync Mode - the synchronisation mode of any flash unit used
  • Flash +/- - any exposure compensation directly attributable to the flash unit
  • Meter - the exposure meter mode used
  • Program Mode - the camera proagram mode used
  • Exp +/- - eny exposure compensation set on the camera
  • Focal Length - the focal length used to take the picture.

Image Searching

When searching for images within the database there are many attributes that can be used as criteria.
  • Date - specific or ranges.
  • Rating - specific or ranges.
  • Image Creator
  • Keywords - one or more keywords can be entered. The search can be set to match all or any of the entered keywords.
  • Location - specific or ranges.

Except for keywords, which have a different process, all other data can be included in the criteria set more than once providing further filtering against the database.

Once the matching images have been selected their number, title and rating are displayed along with their thumbnail image.

Portfolios

The results of searches can be saved as a portfolio. These portfolios can be retrieved and updated.

Before venturing on a photoshoot have you ever wondered where the moon is going to be in the sky at what time and how it is positioned relative to the sun. With the AstroTBoxTM you can
  • list the phases of the moon
  • display the moon and sun rise and set times
  • calculate days when the moon and sun rise or set times are close to each other - or in fact any specified time interval apart
  • determine when the moon and sun are at a set position relative to each other in the sky - close or distant
  • plot the daily transitions of the sun and moon across the sky

Printing and Exporting

The thumbnails from the results of a search or those stored within a portfolio can be printed in a proof sheet form. Similarly those images, or individual images, can be exported to a disk file.
