Image Details

a unique identifying number that can be used to manually retrieve its details. Title - an identifying description of the image. Date - the date on which the photograph was taken or image created. This can be indicated as approximate. Time - the time at which the photograph was taken or image created. This can be indicatedas approximate. Rating - a numeric rating given to the image to indicate its merit. Image Creator - selectable reference to whomever took the photograph or created the image. Notes - any notes desired. Image Metrics - the location and name of the image on the computer as well as the image size and resolution. KeyWords - any keywords that are desired. These will be indexed and searches can be performed, retrieving images matching their entered keywords. Thumbnail - a thumbnail representation of the actual image. Location - an indication of the location of which the photograph was taken. This location information is in the form of a user created hierarchical structure. Camera - the camera used to take the picture. Lens - the lens used to take the picture. Film - the type of film used to take the photograph. Film Speed - the ISO/ASA rating Shutter Speed - the shutter speed setting on the camera when the photograph was taken. fStop - the fStop setting used on the lens. Strobe - the strobe/flash used to take the photograph. Image Searching

	When searching for images within the database there are many attributes that can be used as criteria. Date - specific or ranges. Rating - specific or ranges. Image Creator Keywords - one or more keywords can be entered. The search can be set to match all or any of the entered keywords. Location - specific or ranges. custom details data sets subjects Camera Lens Film Strobe fStop - specific or ranges. Focal Length - specific or ranges. Shutter Speed - specific or ranges. Disk Catalogue Search.
	Except for keywords, which have a different process, all other data can be included in the criteria set more than once providing further filtering against the database. Once the matching images have been selected their number, title and rating are displayed along with their thumbnail image.

By pressing the F1 key while the application is running, help on how to operate PhotoCat and understand what data it is storing will be displayed.

• first available in 1999, PhotoCat has evolved to its newest version!
• Version 2.0.8d is the latest release version of PhotoCat2 (FW) and is now available for download.
• PhotoCatFW has been re-developed using the latest software technologies and uses particular versions of the Microsoft® .Net and other system environments including the Microsoft® Data Access Components.
  
  Photocat will not install or run without the correct versions of these components which, if not already on your system, can be downloaded for free from these sites:

  If you are unsure as to whether you have these components, install PhotoCat. The installation process will warn you if you need the other components.
• Currently there is no upgrade from Version 1 of PhotoCat to Version 2. If you have a Version 1 installation that you would like to upgrade please e-mail to us and we will notify you when the upgrade is available.

  • 64mb RAM (128mb minimum with XP)

  • Internet connection (for registration only)
  • 40mb disk space (may require less if the required Microsoft® utilities are already installed)
    more disk space will be required as the database grows
    a database with approximately 2000 images stored at 800x600 resolution needs roughly 200mb, i.e. about 100kb per image
• There are two versions of the zipped files. One has the Microsoft Installer included and the other doesn't (a smaller download). Most operating systems (from Windows 2000 onwards) should already have the necessary installer files and therefore the smaller download can be used.

What is new in 2.1.0 beta

• Release Details - for any image you can store notes against individual copy numbers. Here you can track who, when, where, etc. about sales of individual image copies. (commercial version only)
• Photo-shoot log - you can now set up log books for specific photo-shoots. Each photo-shoot can have multiple entries and each entry can have multiple images annoted to it.

Installation Instructions:

• select the desired download from the list above
• click the Download Now button
• when prompted, save the zipped file to a location on your computer
• use WinZip to extract the files to a location on your computer
• run the extracted Setup.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions
